"Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning." Albert Einstein
One of my
most challenging goals as a teacher is to guide and help my students
to perform at their personal best. I believe it is important to
encourage and facilitate social, emotional, and intellectual growth in students
by stimulating and motivating them in a creative educational atmosphere. I want
to instill a thirst for learning into them, so that they will always be
learners. Getting to know the student is my first step in teaching a
child.
Knowing students' interests is a major tool in teaching children. Students are diverse in how they learn. It is up to me as an educator to use a variety of methods, including technology, to teach and to allow my students various ways to express their comprehension of the content area. I use various methods of assessment, including data-based decision making, to determine that I am meeting students' needs. I have learned it is imperative to have a positive attitude when working with students; projecting a positive attitude produces students with positive attitudes. Looking for the positive in students is far more productive than looking for the negative. Every day, I stop to look in the mirror because I know my students will be reflecting my attitude. Developing positive, respectful and rewarding relationships with my students will allow us to gain a better understanding of our differences and appreciate our uniqueness as well. I maintain a high level of ethics in my classroom and teach students to value honesty and truthfulness to nurture mutual respect. I strongly believe in the importance of teaching character education so that children learn how to live as good citizens at home and school.
Showing students kindness and compassion is important. I strive to remember to be flexible and adaptable because what worked today may not work tomorrow, and what works for one group of learners may not work for another. It is my responsibility to adapt my delivery to fit my students. I always try to do my personal best to teach each student in a way that will allow them to grow intellectually, emotionally, physically and socially in a caring and supportive environment. I believe that all students have the right and ability to learn.
My Personal Goal
My first goal is to graduate from the Master's Program this summer. My next goal is to focus and concentrate on my family. I want to help my son to learn about his own learning style. My final goal is to get into better physical shape this summer.
My Professional Goal
My first goal is to complete assignments and pass the assessment for this class. The next goal would be to finish The Beginning Teachers Academy. My final goal is to continue learning about best practices and to share them with colleague and embed them into the classroom.
